What will I learn in Information Technology?

In IT, you will obtain an insight of the digital tools used in business and management.  The course consists of major topics in the IT field which include Information Systems in organisations, Software, and Programming techniques. You will learn how to apply IT applications and concepts in business. Your decision-making and problem-solving skills will be enhanced through practical business scenarios. You will learn web-design, database design, and software development. 

At Advanced level, you will work on a databases design project, a web design project, and a software development project. 

At Intermediate level, you will work on a databases project, a web design project, and communication and business organisation presentation project.

How will I benefit from studying Information Technology?

IT will open ample opportunities to take future undergraduate courses in business, IT, and management. 

During the course, your decision-making, problem-solving, and managing business application skills will be enhanced through practical business scenarios. You will also learn web-design, database design, and software development. 

Moreover, the IT course promotes constructive thinking, widens knowledge in the use of business applications and enriches web design skills. It also teaches and solidifies time-management and communication skills, whilst enhancing teamwork and research skills. Undoubtedly, IT has several transferable skills which may be applied in any future endeavours.

  • Information Technology cannot be taken with Computing.
