Horticulture Field

The horticulture field was set up in 2016 by members of the Biology Department with the indispensable help of the minor staff in order to provide Biology students with resources needed for their coursework.

It has since grown and become a living laboratory and a place where students and staff members, who have nature and agriculture at heart, can meet, learn about plant biology in an informal setting, lend a hand with growing and harvesting crops and offer suggestions.

Students are given the opportunity to develop skills in horticulture, gardening and landscaping as well as life-long social skills such as teamwork, responsibility and ownership. Visiting the horticulture field also has a significant positive impact on mental health and wellbeing and increases one’s appreciation of the environment.
