German is the most widely spoken mother language in the EU, with over 100 million native speakers. It is also one of the three working languages in the EU and it carries the status of an official language in six European countries: Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belgium and Liechtenstein. Germany is the most populous country in the EU and is also its largest economy. Germany is one of Malta’s main trading partners. Moreover, there are several German companies operating in Malta whilst German speaking tourists are frequent visitors to our islands.
At Advanced Level students cover various cultural topics (Landeskunde) and a literary text. Essay writing and communicative writing tasks as well as listening and oral communicative skills are emphasised.
Intermediate Level covers written/spoken texts that are less demanding than those presented at A Level. Elements of culture are also present.
Students will be informed at the start of the course.
